I-70 Eagle Interchange – Phase 3 Construction Begins With North-Side Traffic Switch
Phase 3 construction activities will begin on the westbound on-ramp, the south half of the westbound off-ramp, and the west half of Eby Creek Road north of I-70. Phase 3 is estimated to end in mid-October. Currently, construction is progressing on schedule.
TRAFFIC SWITCH IMPACTS MINIMAL- After the traffic switch, the existing number of travel and turn lanes will be maintained, but traffic will be shifted into a slightly different configuration. Access to homes and businesses will not be impacted, and no closures or delays are expected.
GENERAL TRAVEL IMPACTS - (For weekly lane closure reports, posted each Friday, please consult the project web page or sign up to receive updates; details below.) Normal construction hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and motorists should anticipate some single-lane reductions at the interchange throughout the duration of construction.
PROJECT PROGRESS - Phase 2 of construction will wrap up over the next two weeks as Phase 3 gets underway. Phase 2 work has included:
- Construction of the west half of the Eby Creek Road new roadway between I-70 and Chambers
- New underground utilities between I-70 and Chambers
- Construction of two new off-ramps at I-70
- Construction on the north side between I-70 and Market Street
