Night Work Begins Monday on I-70 Resurfacing Project From Eagle to Edwards

July 3, 2013 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Day time work still underway but won’t impact traffic.

EAGLE COUNTY— Work continues to progress on the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) I-70 resurfacing project between mile post (MP) 147 and MP 164 (from Eagle to Edwards). Night work on the project will begin on the evening of Monday, July 8, 2013 in addition to daytime work, which should not impact traffic.

Night work will consist of the following operations involving lane closures:

  1. Milling and paving operations in the westbound lanes between MP 152 and MP 147.  These operations should be completed within the first week of night operations.
  2. Removal of concrete barricade, milling, and paving operations on the various bridge structures throughout the project limits. These structures are all located between MP 164 and MP 153. Work on these structures will begin in the first week of night operations, and will continue sporadically throughout the remainder of the project depending on completion of corresponding concrete bridge repair.
  3. Milling and paving of each of the four Wolcott interchange on- and off-ramps. This work is scheduled to be performed during the second week of night operations, beginning on Sunday, July 14, and should be completed in four night shifts.

The normal weekly work schedule for night operations will be Sunday nights through Thursday nights, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be no night work on Friday or Saturday evenings. Daytime work will take place Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with allowance for eastbound commuter traffic from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily. Allowances will be made for westbound commuter traffic from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily and between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Fridays. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 MPH through the work zone and traffic fines will be doubled. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all road signs and flaggers, and to drive Slow for the Cone Zone.

The $8.4 million project is contracted through Old Castle United Companies.
