Hampden Avenue/Colorado Boulevard Intersection Now Open Following Reconstruction
DENVER— The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has fully reopened the Hampden Avenue/Colorado Boulevard intersection following a 20-day concrete reconstruction period. Now that the majority of the reconstruction is complete, all through lanes are now open; however, motorists can still expect some turn lane restrictions and various single lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“By completing the majority of the reconstruction in the 20-day period, we reduced the impacts to traffic by about three months,” said CDOT Project Engineer John Hall. “Any time we can reduce the overall impacts to the traveling public and expedite the project is a benefit for everyone.”
Chato’s Concrete, LLC is the contractor for this $1.7 million project that will be complete by the end of August 2013. When complete, the intersection will have an improved driving surface, reducing the wear and tear on vehicles.
