CDOT Maintenance Projects on SH 82 and SH 133
Information is as follows:
July 8-9: SH 133 McClure Pass North – Crews will resurface a section of the pass just south of Redstone (MP 48 to 49); during these two days, there will be single-lane, alternating traffic between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
July 9-10: SH 82 near Aspen Glen – Crews will smooth ruts in the pavement (caused by heavy truck traffic) in both westbound lanes (or heading down-valley, into Glenwood Springs); on these two days, traffic coming into Glenwood will be reduced to a single lane from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (avoiding the morning up-valley rush hour). The eastbound (up-valley) right lane in this area will be smoothed during a project later this month.
July 15-18: SH 82 Independence Pass West – Crews will resurface the highway between mile points 59 and 60.5, just west of the summit (at MP 61). Over the four days, there will be single-lane, alternating traffic from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
OTHER AREA PROJECTS:
July 22-August 5: SH 82 Independence Pass West – The Independence Pass Foundation will be working on a slope stabilization project near the Independence Ghost Town at approximately mile marker 57 west of the summit. There will be single-lane, alternating traffic from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Underway through July: SH 133 McClure Pass – CDOT and contractor TK Mining continue rockfall work between MP 44 and 49 on the north side near Marble; during periods of rock scaling work (done each day), traffic will be stopped in both directions for up to 20 minutes. Delays may exceed 20 minutes as traffic queues are cleared in both directions. When scaling is not underway, travelers should still anticipate some delays and single-lane, alternating traffic, Monday through Friday (and some Saturdays) during daylight hours.
Underway through October 2013 – SH 82 El Jebel: CDOT contractor United Companies / Oldcastle SW Group is resurfacing and making safety improvements between Carbondale and El Jebel. Traffic delays and single-lane closures can be expected from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Periods with no traffic impacts will be between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. for up-valley traffic (towards Aspen), and between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. for down-valley traffic. Starting Monday, July 8, there will be intersection closures atJW Drive then Valley Road During these closures, traffic will be directed to use El Jebel Road and the eastern entrance of Valley Road. RFTA is accommodating these intersection closures. For information on this project, the public may call (970) 510-0723 or write to [email protected].
