Night Work Scheduled Sunday and Next Week at Foothills Parkway and US 36

June 14, 2013 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Will require lane closures on eastbound and westbound US 36.

BOULDER COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be performing night work on the Foothills Parkway (State Highway 157) bridge deck beginning Sunday, June 16 from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 17. The work will require a full closure of westbound US 36 and southbound Foothills Parkway and detours will be in place. Eastbound US 36 will have one lane closed that same evening.

In addition to the Sunday night closures, there will be single lane closures on eastbound US 36 and westbound US 36 from Monday night, June 17through Thursday night, June 20 from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. After Sunday night, there will also be a 24/7 lane closure on Foothills Parkway over US 36.

The closures are part of the bridge deck replacement in Boulder that will help improve bridge safety for motorists merging from Foothills Parkway onto eastbound US 36. The closures will be in effect to help allow crews to safely perform the work necessary to move the project forward.

Delays of 15 minutes are expected and a speed limit reduction will be in place on US 36. Alternate routes are strongly advised, and signed detours will be in place. CDOT reminds all motorists to please drive Slow for the Cone Zone!

The existing bridge deck of Foothills Parkway over US 36 was built in 1971 and was in poor condition, warranting significant repairs. Deck replacement will also include tie-in-work to the existing highway on both sides of the bridge to increase motorist safety.

Typical daytime work takes place on the project between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Delays of up to 10 minutes should be expected throughout the project work zone and the speed limit is reduced on Foothills Parkway to 35 MPH 24/7.

The $1.3 million project is contracted to Jalisco International, Inc.
