Night Work Scheduled Tonight for Foothills Parkway and US 36

April 26, 2013 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Will require full closure of westbound US 36

BOULDER COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be performing night work on the Foothills Parkway (State Highway 157) bridge deck tonight at 9 p.m. over US 36. The work is part of the bridge deck replacement in Boulder that will help improve bridge safety for motorists merging from Foothills Parkway onto eastbound US 36.

To allow crews to perform the work necessary to move the project forward, both lanes of westbound US 36 will be closed starting at 9 p.m. tonight and the left lane of eastbound US 36 will be closed starting at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 5:30 a.m. Additionally, Foothills Parkway will be completely closed over US 36 from 10 p.m. tonight until 5:30 a.m. tomorrow with local, signed detours in place.

Delays of 15 minutes are expected and a speed limit reduction will be in place on US 36. CDOT reminds all motorists to please drive Slow for the Cone Zone!

The existing bridge deck of Foothills Parkway over US 36 was built in 1971 and was in poor condition, warranting significant repairs. Deck replacement will also include tie-in-work to the existing highway on both sides of the bridge to increase motorist safety.

Typical daytime work takes place on the project between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Delays of up to 10 minutes should be expected throughout the project work zone and the speed limit is reduced on Foothills Parkway to 35 MPH 24/7.

The $1.3 million project is contracted to Jalisco International, Inc.
