Brief, Full Closure on I-70 April 18th in Glenwood Springs Just East of Exit 116

April 15, 2013 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - City of Glenwood Springs to relocate overhead electric wire.

GARFIELD COUNTY – Originally scheduled for April 9 but postponed due to weather, the City of Glenwood Springs Electric Department will be relocating an overhead electrical line that is currently supported by a roadway light. The light is scheduled to be removed at a later date, as part of a CDOT maintenance project replacing the roadway lighting along I-70. The electric department has installed a utility pole to hang the wire from.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS – This Thursday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 11: 20 a.m., I-70 will be closed just east of the Exit 116 interchange at Glenwood Springs, near mile point 116.5.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be a single-lane closure in each direction on I-70 in this area. This will allow regular work to progress as well as allow a ‘free’ lane that can be used should any traffic incidents occur in the open lane during the full closure.  Just before 11 a.m., a roadway flagger will bring traffic to a safe stop for the full closure, to allow crews enough time to safely install the wire.
