US 160/491 South Broadway Reconstruction

March 8, 2013 - PROJECT UPDATE - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Crews work toward completing final work activities

Colorado Department of Transportation contractor Lawson Construction has completed a majority of the concrete reconstruction on South Broadway (US 160/491). Crews will complete all final work activities as favorable weather conditions allow, working this Sunday if weather permits.

FINAL SPRING WORK ACTIVITIES:

As temperatures continue to warm, crews will finalize concrete and curb and gutter work at the intersection of US160/491. Meanwhile, the northbound US 491 detour will remain in effect until all work is complete at this intersection.

Additionally, crews continue with the installation of two new traffic signal poles at the intersection of US 160 and US 491, traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, street lighting, minor curb and gutter work at various locations throughout the project and final striping, weather permitting. Crews anticipate activation of the new traffic signals by the end of March and a completion of the project with final signing and striping in mid-April, if weather complies.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:

With the exception of the US 160/491 intersection and detour, all traffic devices and barrels have been removed and the roadway is fully open to traffic. Motorists can expect intermittent single-lane closures and minor traffic delays while crews perform curb and gutter work at various locations throughout the project.

WORK HOURS:

Through the duration of the project, work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Sunday, weather permitting.
