I-70 Glenwood Canyon Eastbound Concrete Resurfacing
The purpose of the open house is to provide details and answer questions on the next phase of concrete reconstruction in Glenwood Canyon. This project is the fourth in a series of phased projects that will replace the current asphalt pavement with concrete pavement, in the eastbound lanes only.
The work zone lies between the east side of Hanging Lake Tunnel (located about 10 miles east of Glenwood Springs) and the Bair Ranch Exit (or between mile points 125.9 and 131). In addition to concrete reconstruction, the project will include bridge expansion joint work (both east- and westbound) on two I-70 bridges and two interstate ramp bridges at the Bair Ranch Exit. Finally, the project will also resurface (with asphalt) the Bair Ranch rest area parking lot.
The work, contracted to IHC for $7.5 million, is expected to start on March 25, weather permitting, and last through late June. During concrete reconstruction, I-70 traffic will be traveling in a single lane in each direction, using the westbound lanes. Further details about the project schedule and travel impacts will be presented at the open house and sent out in a later press release.
