Temporary Lane Closures precede Work to expand I-25 between Colorado Springs and Monument

January 30, 2013 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - COLORADO SPRINGS – In advance of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) Interstate 25 widening project between Woodmen Road and Monument, contractors will be taking soil and pavement samples, requiring overnight lane closures through early February.

All the work will occur between 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., weather and equipment permitting. Traffic will be reduced to one lane for about one mile each night during a two-week period. A reduced 65 mph speed limit also will be in effect through the work zone.

The first week of closures begin Sunday, February 3, in the northbound lanes, just north of Woodmen Road.  Each night through Friday, February 8, the lane closure will move north toward Monument. The closures resume Sunday, February 10, just south of Monument, and move south toward Woodmen Road, through Friday, February 15.

This work precedes the widening of I-25 to three lanes in each direction through north El Paso County.  Additional information about the project, which is scheduled to begin in March, will be forthcoming over the next several weeks as CDOT prepares for the start of construction.
