US 160/491 South Broadway Reconstruction Project Update

December 19, 2012 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Crews to suspend work for the winter in January and will return in the spring to complete final work activities.

Colorado Department of Transportation contractor Lawson Construction has completed a majority of the concrete reconstruction on South Broadway (US 160/491) and operations will soon be suspended for the winter. On December 13, crews shifted the northbound traffic of South Broadway into its final configuration from the southern project limits to Maple St.

FINAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

Prior to the coming holidays and weather permitting, crews will be working on temporary striping, curb and gutter and the installation of new street lights and permanent roadway signs.

After the New Year, crews will return to complete any minor electrical, temporary striping, permanent signing and curb and gutter work in preparation for winter suspension.

SPRING 2013 WORK ACTIVITIES:

Crews will return in early spring for approximately three weeks to complete final striping and minor curb and gutter work throughout the project and to complete the installation of two new traffic signal poles at the intersection of US 160 and US 491.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:

By winter suspension in early January, all traffic devices and barrels will be removed and the roadway will be fully open to traffic.

Motorists can expect intermittent single-lane closures and minor traffic delays during brief January work and spring 2013 work activities.
