Twin Tunnels Work Impacting Traffic Postponed Until After Christmas
December 19, 2012 - Central/Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - Due to the snowstorm, the Colorado Department of Transportation is cancelling the overnight closures scheduled for this week at the Twin Tunnels on Interstate 70, at the east end of Idaho Springs.
Some work will take place off-road overnight tomorrow and Friday. Single lane closures will resume next week, allowing the concrete barrier to be reset and the highway restriped, as follows:
- Wednesday, December 26, 6 p.m. to Thursday, December 27, 6 a.m.
Left lane closed eastbound
- Thursday, December 27, 6 p.m. to Friday, December 28, 8 a.m.
Right or left lane closures eastbound at various times
When I-70 is reduced to a single lane, the speed limit is reduced to 35 mph.
Following next week’s lane closures, work impacting traffic will be suspended until after the New Year’s holiday.
