State Highway 131 Construction Project Complete

November 6, 2012 - CONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATE - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Work completes ahead of schedule, under budget.

ROUTT COUNTY — Last week, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) completed all work to reconstruct and widen nearly three miles of State Highway (SH) 131 from mile marker (MM) 58 south of Chokecherry Lane to MM 55, roughly 10 miles south of Steamboat Springs. The project greatly improves the safety of the highway by adding safety features and creating better sight distance for motorists. Thanks to outstanding efforts by the crew, the project wrapped up ahead of schedule and under budget.

“We recognize a project of this size and duration impacts a community, and are very appreciative of the support we received during construction from not only the residents that live along this stretch of highway, but also from the residents of the entire Oak Creek community,” said CDOT Project Engineer Justin Kuhn. “We’re proud to say this project finished prior to our announced November 15 deadline, and finished slightly under budget.”

Connell Resources was the contractor for this $6.9 million project.
