I-70 Vail Chain Station Improvement Study Underway

November 7, 2012 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - CDOT seeks public input.

EAGLE COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) invites residents in Vail to provide public comment on alternatives developed as part of the I-70 Vail Chain Station Improvements Study at a Town Council update on November 20, 2012.  The update is scheduled as part of the regular Town Council business meeting beginning at 6 pm in the Vail Municipal Building at 75 South Frontage Road.  The purpose of the update is to provide residents with another opportunity to learn about the study and provide comments to the project team.

Any interested parties that either cannot attend the Town Council meeting or would like to review the alternatives prior to the meeting can go to the Public Notices section on the Town of Vail’s website at   http://www.vailgov.com/releaselist.asp?type=33 to view alternative exhibits.  A comment sheet is also available on the website to provide written feedback to the project team.

CDOT initiated this study to evaluate existing conditions and operations of the I-70 chain stations for Vail Pass; to identify observed deficiencies; to make recommendations for physical modification of existing facilities or changes in operational logistics that may improve the functional characteristics of the chain stations; and to prepare an Implementation Plan for improvements to the chain stations.  The study’s primary focus is capital improvements that can be implemented over time; however, other potential operational improvements have also been identified and discussed with stakeholders.
