Traffic Stops on Highway 12 Next Week
HUERFANO COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will stop traffic up to one hour on State Highway 12 at the Cucharas River Bridge on Monday, October 8, as part of a bridge replacement project.
Drivers on SH 12 can expect the hour-long stops from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., about nine miles south of La Veta, as a crane is set in place and new culvert boxes are installed under the highway.
Following installation of the box culverts, a majority of the work will be completed. Remaining aspects of the project are scheduled for completion by early November, including paving, guardrail installation and striping. The temporary detour, parallel to the bridge site, is set to be removed by mid-November.
