Mt. Evans Highway Closed for Season

September 26, 2012 - CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) closed the lower portion of the Mount Evans Highway (State Highway 5) – between Echo Lake and Summit Lake – for the season today due to adverse weather.

CDOT closed the five-mile segment from Summit Lake to the top of Mount Evans (14,264 feet) the day after Labor Day, per agreement with the United States Forest Service.

The highway is scheduled to reopen on Friday, May 27, 2013, weather permitting.
