CDOT to Begin Bridge Deck Replacement at US 36 and Foothills Parkway Next Monday

September 27, 2012 - UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION PROJECT - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Work expected to last into Spring 2013.

BOULDER COUNTY — On Monday, October 1, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin a bridge deck replacement project at US 36 and Foothills Parkway (State Highway 157) in Boulder.  The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2013.

The existing bridge deck of Foothills Parkway over US 36 was built in 1971 and is in poor condition that warrants significant repairs. Deck replacement will also include tie-in-work to the existing highway on both sides of the bridge.

Work on the project will be split between daytime and nighttime hours to be determined each week. Daytime work will be between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and nighttime work will take place from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Single lane closures will be implemented on Foothills Parkway and will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Three weekend closures of Foothills Parkway, as well as overnight closures of US 36, are planned but exact dates are not known at this time. There are no scheduled lane closures the week of Monday, October 1.

Delays of up to 10 minutes should be expected throughout the project work zone and the speed limit will be reduced on Foothills Parkway to 35 MPH 24/7, and on US 36 to 40 MPH during night closures. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all road signs and flaggers, and to drive Slow for the Cone Zone.

The $1.3 million project is contracted to Jalisco International, Inc.
