Bridge Deck Rehabilitation to Cause Delays on I-76 and I-70 This Weekend
September 7, 2012 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - DENVER – This weekend, Friday, September 7 through Monday, September 10, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will continue bridge deck rehabilitation on two bridges in the Denver metro area: eastbound I-76 over 96th Avenue and westbound I-70 over Old Golden Road, which is near Colfax Avenue.
To complete the work, there will be both single and double lane closures in each location throughout the weekend.
Below are the specific lane closure hours at each location:
- Eastbound I-76 over 96th Avenue: Up to two lanes of eastbound I-76 will be closed from 7 p.m. tonight, September 7 and continuing until 5 a.m. on Monday, September 10 for bridge deck repairs.
- Westbound I-70 over Old Golden Road: Up to two lanes of westbound I-70 will be closed from 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 8 until noon on Sunday, September 9 for paving operations.
Major delays are expected on eastbound I-76 as well as westbound I-70 throughout the weekend and alternate routes are strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
This weekend’s work is part of a larger project that rehabilitates five bridge decks in the Denver metro areas including:
- I-70 over 20th Avenue- Work is complete
- Eastbound State Highway 58 over I-70- Work is complete
- I-70 over Havana Street
- I-76 over 96th Avenue
- I-70 over Old Golden Road
Hamon Contractors Inc. is the contractor of this $2.3 million project which is scheduled for completion in October 2012.
