State Highway 72 Resurfacing Project Finished

August 1, 2012 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has finished its highway resurfacing project on State Highway (SH) 72 between mile marker (MM) 32 in Nederland at the intersection of SH 119 to MM 54 in Raymond at the intersection of SH 7.

This is a section of the highway that will be used as part of the USA Pro Challenge, which will take place later this month.

The project created a much-needed smoother surface on the highway and also extended its lifespan. Crews patched the existing highway surface to remove potholes, created a new surface with chipseal operations, and then restriped it. The new restriping will help improve safety on the roadway by creating more visible lane markings.

“We know that in addition to the motorists who use this stretch of highway on a regular basis, there are also a number of cyclists who do as well,” said CDOT Engineer Dan Marcucci. “The new surface should provide a much smoother, and safer, ride for everyone.”

A-1 Chipseal Co. was the contractor for this $1.5 million project.
