One Lane of Westbound I-70 Reopened at Dotsero
EAGLE COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has reopened one lane of westbound I-70 at mile marker 133, the Dotsero exit. CDOT has cleared the backups of vehicles and trucks that had been held during the closure, and will be allowing one lane of incoming traffic to use the interstate. There is no estimated time of reopening for the second/right hand lane of I-70.
Crews continue to clean up materials spilled during a single vehicle accident involving a semi that occurred at approximately 2 a.m. this morning. Approximately 60 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled as well as 42,000 pounds of scrap aluminum that the truck was carrying. Hazmat crews are on site to clean up the diesel, which spilled mostly on the highway itself, and CDOT maintenance crews are working to clean the aluminum from the highway.
