Morning Closure of Highway 119 Next Week
August 16, 2012 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - GILPIN COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close U.S. 6 and State Highway 119 for a couple of hours on Tuesday, August 21, allowing bridge girders to be delivered to CDOT’s widening project just south of Black Hawk.
Beginning at 4 a.m. and continuing until 6 a.m., U.S. 6 will be closed between Interstate 70 and the SH 119 junction and SH 119 will be closed between the junction of U.S. 6 and Black Hawk.
While Highways 6 and 119 are closed, drivers can access Black Hawk and Central City via Interstate 70 and the Central City Parkway (Exit 243).
The closures are required because the length of the girders requires full use of the highway to accommodate the numerous curves through Clear Creek Canyon and North Clear Creek Canyon.
