Bridge Deck Repairs Continue on I-70 over 20th Avenue and Old Golden Road
August 17, 2012 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - GOLDEN – Asphalt removal and bridge deck repairs continue on I-70 over 20th Avenue and over Old Golden Road as part of a bridge deck rehabilitation project that will take place at five locations in the Denver metro area.
As a result, there will be various lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-70. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes.
To complete the work, the following lane closures will be in place, weather permitting:
- Friday, August 17th, through Sunday, August 19th: The left and/or right lanes on eastbound I-70 over 20th Avenue and middle lane over Old Golden Road will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday through 12 pm Sunday.
- Wednesday, August 22nd: The left and right lanes on westbound I-70 over 20th Avenue and the middle lane over Old Golden Road will be closed from 8 p.m. to noon the next day.
- Thursday, August 23rd: The right lane then left lane of westbound I-70 over 20th Avenue will be closed from midnight to 5:30 a.m. the following day. In addition, the middle lane over Old Golden Road will be closed from 8 p.m. to noon the following day.
Major delays are expected on I-70 and alternate routes are strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
This work is part of a bridge rehabilitation project that repairs the bridge decks on I-70 over 20th Avenue, Old Golden Road, and Havana Street and on I-76 over 96th Avenue.
Hamon Contractors Inc. is the contractor of this $4 million project which is scheduled for completion in October 2012.
