Paving Operations Continue on I-70 This Weekend as Well as Next Week
As a result, there will be various lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-70 between Peoria Street and Quebec Street. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes.
To complete the work, the following lane closures will be in place from Friday, June 8th through Thursday, June 14th, weather permitting:
• Friday, June 8th and Saturday, June 9th: One lane of eastbound and westbound I-70 between Peoria Street and Quebec Street will be closed each night starting at 9 p.m. with a second lane closing at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. the following day.
• Sunday, June 10th through Wednesday, June 13th: One lane of eastbound and westbound I-70 between Peoria Street and Quebec Street will be closed each night starting at 9 p.m. with a second lane closing at 10 p.m. and a third lane closing at midnight. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following day.
• Thursday, June 14th: One lane of eastbound I-70 between Peoria Street and Quebec Street will be closed on Thursday starting at 9 p.m. with a second lane closing at 10 p.m. and a third lane closing at midnight. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following day.
Throughout the week, including this weekend, major delays are expected on I-70 and alternate routes are strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.” Most fines for infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.
This work is part of an interchange improvement project that constructed a full interchange at I-70 and Central Park Boulevard, which is located between Havana Street and Quebec Street.
The interchange is complete and the paving operations will wrap up by the end of June 2012.
