SH 114 Saguache West Maintenance Chip Seal

May 14, 2012 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Colorado Department of Transportation maintenance crews will complete a three-day chip seal resurfacing on SH 114, Monday, May 21, through Wednesday, May 23.

A chip seal—which combines a layer/s of asphalt with a layer/s of fine aggregate—is a preventative maintenance technique designed to protect and extend the life of a highway surface that is in good condition.

The chip seal will be done between mile points 56.39 to 61.74, from Saguache west. The work each day will be underway from 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and motorists can expect single-lane, alternating traffic with some minor delays. Drivers are urged to go slowing and with a safe following distance to avoid getting any chips on windshields.
