Single Lane of Southbound I-25 Closed Tonight at State Highway 392
LARIMER/WELD COUNTIES — Tonight, Tuesday, March 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close the right lane of southbound I-25 at State Highway (SH) 392 so crews can work on the bridge deck as part of the interstate improvement project. The lane will be closed at mile marker (MM) 262 directly underneath the SH 392 bridge, and will reopen at MM 261. Crews will be completing bridge form work using rebar in order to prepare for the bridge deck pour scheduled to take place next week.
If crews are unable to finish the work tonight, they will need an additional lane closure tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7, also from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Motorists can expect the following lane closures this week, weather permitting:
- Tonight, Tuesday, March 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the right lane of southbound I-25 will be closed at Exit 262 (SH 392). Motorists should plan for slowing in the area and short delays.
- Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7 from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m., crews may need to make an additional southbound I-25 right lane closure depending on whether or not work on the bridge deck is completed on March 6 (tonight).
Delays are possible during the lane closures. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all road signs and flaggers, and to drive Slow for the Cone Zone.
This work is part of a $17.5 million project that replaces the SH 392 bridge over I-25 with one that is wider to accommodate two lanes in each direction as well as a left-turn lane in each direction. There will also be a six-foot bike lane and a 6.5-foot sidewalk on each side of the bridge. The frontage road on the west side of the interchange will be realigned, and the ramps will be designed to accommodate more traffic. In addition, an expanded 90-space carpool/vanpool lot will be constructed in the southwest corner of the interchange.
Edward Kraemer and Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this project. The project is being funded by CDOT, the Federal Highway Administration, the City of Fort Collins, and the Town of Windsor.
