Closures Next Week on I-25 at State Highway 392

January 27, 2012 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Traffic will be rerouted via the off- and on-ramps.

LARIMER/WELD COUNTIES — Next week, on Monday, January 30 and Tuesday, January 31 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each evening, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close northbound and southbound I-25 at State Highway (SH) 392 so crews can install bridge girders as part of the interstate improvement project.

Traffic will be detoured via the off- and on-ramps in both directions of I-25 at the Windsor/SH 392 exit (Exit 262). The SH 392 bridge over I-25 will also be closed Monday and Tuesday nights for all eastbound and westbound traffic, and detours will be in place and marked appropriately.

Also next week on Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each evening, varying lanes of I-25 will be closed under the SH 392 bridge for concrete deck panels to be installed. SH 392 will continue to be closed across the I-25 bridge. No night work will take place Friday, Saturday, or Sunday of next week.

Motorists can expect the following lane closures next week, weather permitting:

  • On Monday, January 30 and Tuesday, January 31 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., northbound and southbound I-25 will be closed at Exit 262 (SH 392). Traffic will be detoured up, over, and down the off- and on-ramps. Eastbound and westbound SH 392 will also be closed across the I-25 bridge.
    • SH 392 on the east side of I-25: Motorists will be detoured east to Larimer County Road 5 where they can travel north to Harmony Road or south to Crossroads Boulevard.
    • SH 392 on the west side of I-25: Motorists will be detoured on the Southwest Frontage Road where they can travel either north to Harmony Road or south to Crossroads Boulevard.
  • Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2 from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. each evening, varying lanes of northbound and southbound I-25 will be closed at Exit 262 (SH 392). Eastbound and westbound SH 392 will be closed at the bridge. Detours will be marked.

Delays are possible and alternate routes are suggested. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all road signs and flaggers, and to drive Slow for the Cone Zone.

This work is part of a $17.5 million project that replaces the SH 392 bridge over I-25 with one that is wider to accommodate two lanes in each direction as well as a left-turn lane in each direction. There will also be a six-foot bike lane and a 6.5-foot sidewalk on each side of the bridge. The frontage road on the west side of the interchange will be realigned, and the ramps will be designed to accommodate more traffic. In addition, an expanded 90-space carpool/vanpool lot will be constructed in the southwest corner of the interchange.

Edward Kraemer and Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this project. The project is being funded by CDOT, the Federal Highway Administration, the City of Fort Collins, and the Town of Windsor.
