Westbound US 34 Bypass Closed This Weekend

December 1, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Detour will be in place via US 34 business route - LARIMER/WELD COUNTIES — Beginning Friday, December 2 at 6 p.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close westbound US 34 west of 95th Avenue near Greeley.

The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day until Monday, December 5 at noon.

“The closure is the only option for a much-needed pipe repair,” said CDOT Program Engineer Keith Sheaffer. “CDOT has worked closely with the city of Greeley and Crow Creek Construction to explore other alternatives. Unfortunately, the soil won’t allow us to get the pipe installed below US 34 without closing the road for open cutting.”

In order for the city of Greeley to bore through the soil and make way for a sewer pipe extension beneath US 34, all westbound traffic will be diverted to the US 34 business route via 83rd Avenue. Delays should be expected for westbound traffic but eastbound traffic will not be affected. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all road signs and flaggers, and to drive Slow for the Cone Zone.
