Signal Upgrades on I-70 B and US 6 in Clifton Continue through January

December 29, 2011 - PROJECT UPDATE - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - MESA COUNTY – Colorado Department of Transportation contractor WL Contractors is progressing with upgrades to the traffic signals at the intersection of I-70B (business route) and US 6 in Clifton.

Despite initial hopes for a ‘fast-tracked’ completion in December, the work remains on its original schedule of a late January completion.

Crews are upgrading outdated traffic signals and signal poles and install fiber optic cable alongside US 6 west to Warrior Way—extending CDOT’s interconnectivity network (linking signals for improved traffic flow).  The project was contacted to WL Contractors for $598,704.

TRAVEL IMPACTS – Through January, during daylight hours (about 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.), motorists will encounter single-lane closures approaching the intersection Monday through Friday (with the exception of New Year’s Day). Access to businesses is being maintained. The speed limit is reduced to 40 mph through the work zone. CDOT thanks motorists for going Slow for the Cone Zone!
