Closures This Weekend at I-25 and State Highway 392

December 9, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - I-25 will be closed Sunday evening and traffic rerouted via the off- and on-ramps

LARIMER/WELD COUNTIES — On Saturday, December 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sunday, December 11 from 8 p.m. until Monday, December 12 at 5 a.m., the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will continue work at I-25 and State Highway (SH) 392. Crews will be restriping the roadway, continuing pipe and drainage work, and removing demolished materials from the old bridge in order to make way for the new one.

Motorists can expect the following lane closures this weekend, weather permitting:

  • On Saturday, December 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., crews will close varying lanes of eastbound and westbound SH 392 as well as the northbound and southbound I-25 ramps at Exit 262 (SH 392) for brief periods to restripe the roadway. Crews must wait until warm daytime temperatures are reached in order for the paint to dry properly.
  • Sunday, December 11 starting at 8 p.m. and lasting until 5 a.m. Monday, December 12, crews will close northbound and southbound I-25 at Exit 262 (SH 392). Traffic will be detoured up, over, and down the off- and on-ramps. Eastbound and westbound SH 392 will be closed at the bridge. Northbound I-25 traffic to and from SH 392 will be able to exit and enter at the east end of the work zone, while southbound I-25 traffic to and from SH 392 will be able to exit and enter at the west side of the work zone. Detours will be marked.

Delays are possible and alternate routes are suggested. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all road signs and flaggers, and to drive Slow for the Cone Zone.

This work is part of a $17.5 million project that replaces the SH 392 bridge over I-25 with one that is wider to accommodate two lanes in each direction as well as a left-turn lane in each direction. There will also be a six-foot bike lane and a 6.5-foot sidewalk on each side of the bridge. The frontage road on the west side of the interchange will be realigned, and the ramps will be designed to accommodate more traffic. In addition, an expanded 90-space carpool/vanpool lot will be constructed in the southwest corner of the interchange.

Edward Kraemer and Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this project. The project is being funded by CDOT, the Federal Highway Administration, the City of Fort Collins, and the Town of Windsor.
