State Highway 13 Reconstruction Project Pauses for Winter

November 8, 2011 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Project located south of Meeker

RIO BLANCO COUNTY — With winter rapidly approaching, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will remove equipment from the construction area on State Highway (SH) 13 near Meeker this week and the project will be on hold until late April 2012. A full depth reconstruction project is underway, impacting 1.95 miles of the highway from mile marker (MM) 25 to MM 27. The project will increase visibility, widen shoulders, add guardrails, and add new drainage pipes to this section of the highway.

To date, crews performed erosion control work and removed and replaced six pipes/culverts. The work was performed this fall to get a head start on the project and take advantage of favorable weather.

The $4.9 million project contracted through Old Castle United Companies is scheduled for completion by November 2012.
