SH 82 Signal Interconnect Project Update
Here is a summary of the work and resulting impacts:
October 19 - 20: Colorado Department of Transportation contractor, WL Contracting, will finish boring for underground conduit at the Owl Creek Road intersection and Truscott Place intersection. If sub-surface conditions are good, boring of the four intersections outside of town (Airport Road, Harmony Lane, Owl Creek Road and Truscott Place) could be completed early next week. The contractor also began placing the detection loops in the lanes at the Airport Road intersection today. This work will take about one to three days at each intersection.
October 24- 27: Provided that the previous week’s activities have been completed, the contractor will continue with the placement of detection loops in the lanes at the Harmony Place, Owl Creek Road and Truscott Lane intersections through the week. Meanwhile, utility location and boring will begin at the downtown Aspen traffic signals. This work will begin at Aspen Street and move progressively to the Monarch Street, Mill Street and Galena Street intersections. Work will be concentrated on one intersection at a time and it should take one to two days to complete each intersection.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Expect the shoulders of the highway to be closed outside of town and street-side parking to be closed around the downtown intersections under construction. Temporary lane closures will also occur at the intersections during work hours. Lane closures will not occur during peak travel times, which are 6:00-9:00 a.m. in the up-valley lanes and 3:00–6:00 p.m. in the down-valley lanes.
