Crews to Place Westbound Arapahoe Road on New Concrete Pavement Tonight
To complete the work, there will be various single lane closures on Arapahoe Road tonight from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
“By placing westbound Arapahoe Road onto the new concrete, we can open three through lanes, which will help improve the flow of traffic,” said CDOT Project Engineer Ed Bullard. “Following some additional roadway work on Arapahoe Road over the next several weeks, we will place all of eastbound and westbound Arapahoe Road in its final configuration. Northbound and southbound Parker Road will then open up to three lanes in each direction by mid-November, completing the majority of the roadway work.”
Following the realignment tonight, motorists can expect the following changes on Wednesday morning:
- There will be three through lanes open on westbound Arapahoe Road and one left turn lane from westbound Arapahoe Road to southbound Parker Road. The second left turn lane will open in early November.
- The ramp from westbound Arapahoe Road to northbound Parker Road will be open.
- The third lane on the ramp from southbound Parker Road to westbound Arapahoe Road will open to traffic on Wednesday afternoon.
- Eastbound Arapahoe Road will remain in its current alignment to allow crews to complete roadway work. Eastbound Arapahoe Road will be placed in its final alignment in early November.
Delays are possible tonight and alternate routes are advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
Over the next month, crews will complete roadway construction on Arapahoe Road. By mid-November 2011, weather permitting, eastbound and westbound Arapahoe Road will be placed in its final configuration and all three lanes of northbound and southbound Parker Road over Arapahoe Road will be open to traffic.
Hamon Constructors, Inc. is the contractor for this $32 million project, which should be complete by early December 2011. All major roadway work should be completed by mid-November 2011.
