Traffic Realigned on Wadsworth Parkways for Paving Operations
As a result of the alignment, only one lane of Wadsworth Parkway is open in each direction and several intersections are limited to right-in, right-out access only.
“Over the last several weeks, we have rotomilled the left lanes of northbound and southbound Wadsworth Parkway in preparation of the paving,” said CDOT Project Engineer Larry Quirk. “Since we are paving in concrete, we need more time for the pavement to cure. By closing a lane and realigning traffic, we will have ample time to pave and cure the concrete for a better product in the end.”
While Wadsworth Parkway is in a temporary alignment, the following intersections will be limited to right-in, right-out access only for the next two to three weeks:
- 101st Avenue
- The entrance to the shopping center near 100th Avenue
- Independence Drive
- 94th Avenue
Motorists can also expect occasional weekend work (Friday night to Monday morning) to allow crews to pave through the major intersections as listed below. Information will be released as weekend work is scheduled.
- 90th Avenue
- 92nd Avenue
- 100th Avenue
This temporary alignment will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the next two to three weeks. Once the left lane of northbound and southbound Wadsworth Parkway has been paved, crews will realign traffic onto the new pavement and rotomill and pave the right lane in each direction.
Castle Rock Construction Company is the contractor for this $4.7 million project that will pave concrete over the asphalt on approximately two miles of Wadsworth Parkway in order to extend the life of the pavement. The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of December 2011.
