Resurfacing Project on Wilkerson Pass Rescheduled

August 8, 2011 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - PARK/DOUGLAS COUNTIES – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is rescheduling the upcoming paving project on Wilkerson Pass to next week. Work originally was planned for this Wednesday and Thursday.

CDOT now is planning to pave U.S. 24 on the east side of Wilkerson Pass (mile 255-256) on Monday, August 15, and Tuesday, August 16.  Flaggers and a pilot car will alternate eastbound and westbound traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Delays up to five minutes should be expected.

Chip sealing still is scheduled on State Highway 67 tomorrow in the Westcreek area (mile 88-92).

Flaggers and a pilot car will be alternating northbound and southbound traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Drivers should anticipate delays up to 10 minutes.

Upon completion of the work, sweepers will be operating on the highways each evening, cleaning any of the remaining small, loose rocks prevalent in chip seal resurfacing areas.

Chip sealing and paving are preventative maintenance operations, extending a highway’s effective surface life three to five years.

Motorists are reminded to please Slow for the Cone Zone, stay alert and pay attention to and obey all work zone/advisory signs and flaggers.
