New Transportation Director Appointed for CDOT's Region Two

August 23, 2011 - Southeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 2 - PUEBLO – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has named Thomas Wrona as the new Regional Transportation Director (RTD) for Region Two, encompassing southeastern Colorado.

Wrona begins his new position on September 1.  He is a 28-year CDOT employee and replaces Tim Harris, who recently was named CDOT’s chief engineer.

As RTD, Wrona will oversee all CDOT activities in the region, including construction and maintenance.  “I’m looking forward to the challenges of my new position,” said Wrona.  “We have a great staff that’s focused on meeting the transportation needs of Region Two and Colorado.”

Prior to becoming RTD, Wrona was Region Two’s south program engineer for 13 years, overseeing CDOT’s construction projects in ten counties.  Before that, he was a resident engineer in the Pueblo area.

“Almost all of Tom’s years at CDOT have been in Region Two so he has an extensive knowledge of the region’s unique needs and issues,” said CDOT Chief Engineer Tim Harris.  “He’ll continue to provide the region with a high quality of customer service.”

Wrona received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado - Boulder.  He became a Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado in 1988.
