August 4, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - DOUGLAS COUNTY— Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, August 5th and continuing until noon on Sunday, August 7th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will remove and replace concrete pavement on southbound University Boulevard at C-470 as part of an ongoing project.

The work will require lane and ramp closures at the interchange.

As a result of the work, the following closures will be in place, weather permitting:

  • Southbound University Boulevard at C-470: One lane of southbound University Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Eastbound C-470 to University Boulevard: The ramp from eastbound C-470 to University Boulevard will be completely closed from 9 p.m. Friday to noon on Sunday. Detour: Motorists on eastbound C-470 can exit at Broadway and take either County Line Road or Dad Clark Drive east to University Boulevard.

In addition to the work at C-470 and University Boulevard, crews will also be replacing concrete on University Boulevard at Dry Creek Road. The work will require a single lane of

northbound and southbound University Boulevard to be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to noon on Sunday.

Delays are expected throughout the weekend and alternate routes are strongly advised.  CDOT would like to remind motorists to plan ahead, obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”  Fines for most infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.

This work is part of a safety improvement project in three locations on University Boulevard and Wadsworth Boulevard.  The project will remove and replace deteriorating concrete at University Boulevard and C-470 and University Boulevard and Dry Creek Road.  In addition, the traffic signal at Wadsworth Boulevard and Coal Mine Avenue will be upgraded.
