Open Houses Set for Colorado State Rail Plan

July 29, 2011 - Statewide Transportation Plan - DENVER —The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be holding open houses throughout the state to receive public input on various elements of Colorado’s State Freight and Passenger Rail Plan (SFPRP).

The SFPRP will present potential methods for improving the movement of freight and passengers in a safe, efficient and reliable manner.  It also will provide guidance for investing in future rail needs in ways that support economic growth and maintain the environment.

Open houses will give the public an opportunity to comment on various aspects of the SFPRP.  Meetings are scheduled as follows:

  • Monday, August 15, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Washington County Events Center, 551 West 2nd Street, Akron
  • Wednesday, August 17, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Limon Community Building, 477 D Avenue, Limon
  • Tuesday, August, 23, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., CDOT Headquarters Auditorium, 4201 East Arkansas Avenue, Denver
  • Thursday, August, 25, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Mesa County Courthouse—Multipurpose Room, 544 Rood Avenue, Grand Junction
  • Wednesday, August 31, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Otero Junior College – Student Center, 1802 Colorado Avenue, La Junta
  • Thursday, September 1, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Alamosa County Administration Building –Commissioners’ Meeting Room, 8900 Independence Way, Alamosa

The SFPRP is due to be completed in January 2012.
