Traffic Stops on Highway 285 Next Week

June 21, 2011 - PARK COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be stopping traffic on U.S. 285 next week, allowing crews to analyze the road surface in preparation for a future paving project through South Park.

On Tuesday, June 28, and Wednesday, June 29, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., flaggers will be alternating northbound and southbound traffic at various locations (two-mile intervals) on U.S. 285, between Fairplay and mile 193 (five miles south of Jefferson). Traffic stops up to 10 minutes can be expected.

A reduced speed limit will be in effect so motorists are reminded to please Slow for the Cone Zone, stay alert and pay attention to and obey all work zone/advisory signs and flaggers.

CDOT is core drilling the existing pavement to design an upcoming project, which includes asphalt paving and the construction of passing lanes at five different locations to enhance safety.  Work is scheduled to begin in fall 2012, and completed in 2013.
