Surface Improvement Project on Highway 24, west of Lake George

June 15, 2011 - PARK COUNTY – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is paving U.S. 24 on the east side of Wilkerson Pass next week.

On Monday, June 20, and Tuesday, June 21, from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., pilot cars will be alternating traffic at various locations of U.S. 24, beginning just east of the Wilkerson Pass summit and continuing east three miles.  Delays up to 10 minutes should be expected. All work is weather permitting.

Due to the uneven road surface in between work days, the speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph during off-hours (Monday night/Tuesday morning).

The road is being resurfaced with 1 ½ inches of asphalt, preventing surface deterioration and helping to preserve the road base.
