June 17, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - DOUGLAS COUNTY— Starting at 9 p.m. tonight, June 17th and continuing until noon on Sunday, June 19th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will remove and replace concrete pavement on southbound University Boulevard at C-470 as part of an ongoing project.

The work will require various lane closures that will restrict some movements at the interchange.

As a result of the work, the following closures will be in place until noon on Sunday, June 19th:

  • Southbound University at C-470: One lane of southbound University Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. tonight until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Northbound University Boulevard to westbound C-470: The turn lanes from northbound University Boulevard to westbound C-470 will be completely closed from 9 p.m. tonight until noon on Sunday.  Detour: Motorists can take County Line Road to Broadway where access to westbound C-470 is available.
  • Westbound C-470 to Southbound University Boulevard: The turn lanes from westbound C-470 to southbound University Boulevard will be completely closed from 9 p.m. tonight until noon on Sunday.  Detour: Motorists on westbound C-470 can exit onto Broadway and then take Dad Clark Drive to University Boulevard.

Delays are expected throughout the weekend and alternate routes are strongly advised.  CDOT would like to remind motorists to plan ahead, obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”  Fines for most infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.

This work is part of a safety improvement project in three locations on University Boulevard and Wadsworth Boulevard.  The project will remove and replace deteriorating concrete at University Boulevard and C-470 and University Boulevard and Dry Creek Road.  In addition, the traffic signal at Wadsworth Boulevard and Coal Mine Avenue will be upgraded.
