Broncos Country Caravan Tour Encourages Fans to Designate a Sober Driver
The 2001 Caravan will make six stops in Western and Southern Colorado this week, including a kickoff in Grand Junction today (June 22), followed by visits to Montrose (June 23), Durango (June 24), Alamosa (June 25), Walsenburg (June 26) and Pueblo (June 27).
Each caravan stop will culminate with a City Celebration that will be free and open to the public. Fans will meet Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, Broncos alum Ebenezar Ekuban and Miles the mascot, as well get a chance to see the Super Bowl trophies, play games, win prizes and take part in the Broncos Country flag signing. At each stop, one Broncos Country flag will be presented to the mayor of each town, and another will be signed by all those who attend the city celebration. That flag will be brought back and displayed at INVESCO Field at Mile High.
The Heat Is On tent will feature an interactive game to challenge fans to put some “heat” on the football and a chance to win a souvenir football with a reminder to always designate a sober driver. CSP Troopers and local police officers will be on hand to answer questions about DUI enforcement and impaired driving.
“The Broncos Country Caravan is an opportunity to reach people in a fun way with a very serious message about the impacts drunk driving,” said Don Hunt, CDOT’s executive director and governor’s representative for highway safety. “The ‘100 Days of Heat’ DUI enforcement is in full swing and will ramp up again for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. We hope everyone will play it safe this summer by designating a sober driver or taking public transportation if they plan on drinking alcohol.”
“The Colorado State Patrol and CDOT partnered with the Denver Broncos last year to sign up designated drivers at each home game, and we look forward to joining them again to encourage even more fans to be designated drivers this summer and this football season,” said Colonel James Wolfinbarger, Chief of the Colorado State Patrol.
“We look forward to traveling around Broncos Country to celebrate with fans and remind them to be responsible by planning ahead to line up a sober designated driver -- not only during football season, but every season, every day,” said Dennis Moore, Denver Broncos, Vice President of sales and marketing.
