Bridge Work to Impact Traffic at C-470/Santa Fe Drive Interchange Thursday Night

June 29, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - DOUGLAS COUNTY— On Thursday, June 30th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will pour the bridge deck for the new flyover bridge from southbound Santa Fe Drive to eastbound C-470. As a result, there will be various lane and ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
  • Westbound C-470 to Santa Fe Drive: The ramp from westbound C-470 to Santa Fe Drive will be completely closed from 8 p.m. Thursday to 5:30 a.m. on Friday.  Detour: Motorists on westbound C-470 can exit onto Platte Canyon Drive and then take it Mineral Avenue where access to Santa Fe Drive is available.
  • Eastbound C-470 between Santa Fe Drive and Erickson Boulevard: One lane of eastbound C-470 will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday to 5:30 a.m. on Friday.
  • Westbound C-470 at Santa Fe Drive: One lane of westbound C-470 will be closed at 8 p.m. with all lanes closing at 9 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m. on Friday.  Detour: Motorists on westbound C-470 can exit onto Lucent Boulevard and then take County Line Road to Santa Fe Drive.

Delays are expected throughout the night and alternate routes are strongly advised.  CDOT would like to remind motorists to plan ahead, obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”  Fines for most infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.

The work is part of a safety and mobility improvement project that constructs a flyover ramp from southbound Santa Fe Drive (US 85) to eastbound C-470.  In addition, the project will construct a new bridge over Erickson Boulevard as well as a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Erickson Boulevard.  The bicycle/pedestrian trail will also be reconstructed.

The $26.7 million project is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) as well as CDOT and Douglas County.  Edward Kraemer and Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this project scheduled to be complete by January 2012.
