Berthoud Pass - Two Lanes Open
June 27, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - GRAND COUNTY – Two lanes now are open on U.S. 40 at Berthoud Pass where a slide closed the entire highway this morning (6 a.m.), about seven miles east of Winter Park.
One lane is open in each direction through the work zone, where normally, there are two eastbound (uphill) lanes and one westbound lane. The 16-ton boulder (8 feet X 10 feet) is being broken apart into smaller pieces outside of traffic and will be removed later today.
The third lane is expected to reopen to traffic late this afternoon or early evening.
