The bridge work is part of a concrete rehabilitation and bridge repair project on Parker Road between Peoria Street and E-470.  The project will repair or replace approximately 760 concrete slabs along eight miles of Parker Road and repair the bridges over the Cherry Creek Spillway, Piney Creek and Vaughn Way.  The mechanically stabilized earth wall at the Nine Mile Park N Ride Station will also be repaired.

The expansion joint repairs are complete on northbound and southbound Parker Road over Piney Creek as well as southbound Parker Road over Vaughn Way and the Cherry Creek Spillway.  The majority of the concrete repairs on Parker Road between E-470 and Peoria Street are complete. Crews recently completed the expansion joint repairs on northbound Parker Road over the Cherry Creek Spillway and are now focusing on the expansion joint repairs on northbound Parker Road over Vaughn Way.

While the expansion joint work is underway, there will be several small bumps at both ends of the bridge that is being worked on and motorists should reduce their speeds.  These bumps are steel plates that are placed on the roadway during non-work hours so traffic can travel on the road.  The plates can then be easily removed when work resumes.  Once the expansion joint work is complete at a location, the bumps will be removed.

Hamon Contractors, Inc. is the contractor of this $2.3 million project, which should be complete by the end of May 2011.
