Rockfall Mitigation Work on I-70 Near Idaho Springs Canceled for Tomorrow

February 16, 2011 - Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – Due to the potential for high winds and snow, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has canceled the rockfall mitigation work scheduled for tomorrow, February 17th, on I-70 near Idaho Springs. No work will take place on I-70 at Georgetown Hill either.

The work will resume next week and more information regarding potential traffic impacts will be released later this week.

The work is part of a rockfall mitigation project along I-70 near Georgetown and Idaho Springs.  The work includes rock scaling; installation of rockfall fencing, netting and mesh; and new guardrail.  Midwest Rockfall Inc. is the contractor for the $704,000 project.  The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of May 2011.
