Girder Installation at Arapahoe Road and Parker Road Postponed Until Wednesday

February 7, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - ARAPAHOE COUNTY – Due to next round of snow that will begin this evening, the girder installation scheduled to take place tonight, February 7th, at Arapahoe Road and Parker Road has been postponed until Wednesday, February 9th, weather permitting. If weather postpones the work on Wednesday, crews will try to complete the work on Thursday, February 10th.

When the closure takes place, all lanes of eastbound and westbound Arapahoe Road at Parker Road will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.  The following detour routes will be in place:

  • Eastbound Arapahoe Road Detour: Motorists on eastbound Arapahoe Road will take a right onto Chambers Way and drive behind the Cornerstar Mall to Parker Road.
  • Westbound Arapahoe Road Detour: Motorists on westbound Arapahoe Road will take Lewiston Way north around Arapahoe Crossings mall to the traffic signal at Parker Road.

Crews need to install a total of nine bridge girders for the Parker Road bridge over eastbound Arapahoe Road.  If the work is not completed in one night, the same closures will be in place for a second night.

The second round of girder installation for the Parker Road structure over westbound Arapahoe Road will take place shortly after the first round.  This work will require the same closures during the same hours.  Information will be released as the work progresses.

Hamon Constructors, Inc. is the contractor for this $32 million project, which should be complete by the end of November 2011.
