Girder Installation at Arapahoe Road and Parker Road Postponed Until Next Week
The work is tentatively scheduled to take place on Monday, February 7th; however, another round of snow could postpone the work until later in the week. The decision to work on Monday night will be a last minute decision as it depends on the weather so information will be released on Monday afternoon.
When the closure takes place, all lanes of eastbound and westbound Arapahoe Road at Parker Road will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The following detour routes will be in place:
- Eastbound Arapahoe Road Detour: Motorists on eastbound Arapahoe Road will take a right onto Chambers Way and drive behind the Cornerstar Mall to Parker Road.
- Westbound Arapahoe Road Detour: Motorists on westbound Arapahoe Road will take Lewiston Way north around Arapahoe Crossing mall to the traffic signal at Parker Road.
Crews need to install a total of nine bridge girders for the Parker Road bridge over eastbound Arapahoe Road. If the work is not completed in one night, the same closures will be in place for a second night.
The second round of girder installation is tentatively scheduled to take place on February 10th so crews can install bridge girders for the new Parker Road structure over westbound Arapahoe Road. This work may also get postponed depending on when the first set of girders can be installed.
Hamon Constructors, Inc. is the contractor for this $32 million project, which should be complete by the end of November 2011.
