Bridge Deck Work to Impact Traffic on Arapahoe Road at Parker Road Thursday Night and Saturday

February 23, 2011 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - ARAPAHOE COUNTY – On Thursday, February 24th and Saturday, February 26th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will install bridge deck panels for the portion of the new Parker Road bridge over westbound Arapahoe Road. The work will require various lane closures during the evening on Thursday and all day Saturday.

As a result of the work, the following closures will be in place on Thursday and Saturday, weather permitting:

Thursday, February 24th:

  • Westbound Arapahoe Road at Parker Road- Various single and double lane closures are possible on westbound Arapahoe Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Saturday, February 26th:

  • Westbound Arapahoe Road at Parker Road- All lanes of westbound Arapahoe Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Detour Route: Motorists on westbound Arapahoe Road will take Lewiston Way north around Arapahoe Crossing mall to the traffic signal at Parker Road.

“The traffic impacts will be the greatest on Saturday since we will have a full closure of westbound Arapahoe Road in place,” said CDOT Project Engineer Ed Bullard.  “By working a full day on Saturday, we will be able to make up some of the time we lost during several weeks of inclement weather and complete the majority of the work in one day rather than over several nights.”

Delays are expected on Thursday night and all day Saturday and alternate routes are strongly advised.  CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

Hamon Constructors, Inc. is the contractor for this $32 million project, which should be complete by the end of November 2011.
