Waterline Work Begins on Wadsworth Boulevard Under US 285
The project is scheduled to take approximately six weeks and will require various lane closures and full closures at the interchange. Standard working hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with some weekend work.
For the first week of construction, the following lane closures will be in place on Wadsworth Boulevard:
- Northbound Wadsworth Boulevard between Jefferson Avenue and US 285: One lane of northbound Wadsworth Boulevard will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Southbound Wadsworth Boulevard to Eastbound US 285: One left turn lane and one lane of the ramp from southbound Wadsworth Boulevard to eastbound US 285 will be closed starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday and continuing until 3:30 p.m. on Friday. This will leave one turn lane and one ramp lane open throughout the week.
Delays are expected on Wadsworth Boulevard and alternate routes are strongly advised. Denver Water and the Colorado
Department of Transportation (CDOT) would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.” Fines for most infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.
Next week, motorists can expect a full closure of northbound Wadsworth Boulevard under US 285 starting Friday, January 28th through Monday, January 31st. This closure is weather permitting and more information will be released later this week.
The relocation of the waterline will be complete in early March 2011. The work is being coordinated with CDOT’s US 285 safety and mobility project between Federal Boulevard and Kipling Street.
