Girder Installation to Close Wadsworth Boulevard Tonight
This work was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 9th, but was cancelled due to inclement weather. The work will require a full closure of Wadsworth Boulevard as well as some lane closures on US 285.
To complete the girder installation, the following closures will be in place tonight:
- Wadsworth Boulevard under US 285: One lane of northbound and southbound Wadsworth Boulevard will be closed starting at 7 p.m. with all lanes closing at 9 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Detour Routes
- Southbound Wadsworth Boulevard Detour Route: Motorists on southbound Wadsworth Boulevard will take westbound US 285 to Kipling Parkway where they will return to eastbound US 285 for access to Wadsworth Boulevard.
- Northbound Wadsworth Boulevard Detour Route: Motorists on northbound Wadsworth Boulevard will take eastbound US 285 to Sheridan Boulevard where they will return to westbound US 285 for access to Wadsworth Boulevard.
- Westbound US 285 between Pierce Street and Wadsworth Boulevard: One lane of westbound US 285 will be closed starting at 7 p.m. If crews need more room for equipment, a full closure of westbound US 285 may begin at 9 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Detour route: Motorists on westbound US 285 will be detoured via the on and off-ramps at Wadsworth Boulevard.
- Eastbound US 285 between Estes Street and Wadsworth Boulevard: One lane of eastbound US 285 will be closed from 7 p.m. tonight until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Major delays are expected and alternate routes are strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction
signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.” Fines will be doubled for most infractions that occur in the work zone.
The girder installation is part of a safety and mobility improvement project on US 285 between Federal Boulevard and Kipling Street. The $40.1 million design-build project will reconstruct US 285 and replace three bridges among other improvements.
Concrete Express Inc. and Tsiouvaras, Simmons, and Holderness, Inc. is the design-build team for this project that will be completed by the end of July 2011.
